Buy, sell or hold? Five MLB teams with surprising playoff potential in second half

The season’s halfway point is a benchmark for teams to determine whether they’re going to contend for the playoffs or to play out the rest of the year with an eye toward the future. With the 2017 season rapidly approaching that point, teams on the cusp of contention are Cheap Steelers Jerseys probably asking themselves some tough questions.

A handful of teams in both leagues stand out as ones that could go either way. Do they push hard for October baseball or should they make moves with next season and beyond in mind? Let’s take a look at five such teams and what their situation is like as the season barrels toward the All-Star break.

Two of the four games Sunday ended when the winning team made a free throw. It was as anticlimactic as it sounds.

In Game 2, Stephen Jackson of the Killer 3s was whistled for a flagrant foul as he wrapped up Cuttino Mobley as Mobley drove to the hoop. Mobley’s team, Power, led 46-45 at the time, setting up for what should have been an exciting finish. Mobley instead was awarded two 2-point free throws (more on that in a second) and he made both, ending the game.

The big score would be a return of Jeff Van Gundy, but it is hard to imagine him taking on a rebuilding project, even if he is given some front office control. But the Knicks could consider some of the top assistants around the league — Ettore Messina or Becky Hammon from the Spurs, Darvin Ham from the Hawks, Mike Brown or Jarron Collins of the Warriors, the Thunder’s Adrian Griffin. They’d have their pick of former head coaches like Monty Williams and David Blatt. They could scour college ranks (usual suspects Shaka Smart, Bill Self, Jay Wright). One suggestion that, at least, would be fun: Clippers assistant coach Sam Cassell.
